Jammu, May 11 '2015 - The members of journalist fraternity today paid tributes to Ashok Sodhi—a photojournalist, who fell prey to the bullets of militants during an encounter in 2008 at Samba while performing his professional duties.
The Press Club of Jammu, this morning organised a simple function to pay homage to the noble soul on his Seventh Death Anniversary. Journalists from electronic and print media assembled at the venue at lightened candles besides playing floral tributes to Sodhi. Speaking on the occasion, President Press Club of Jammu, Ashwani Kumar remembered his days with the late Sodhi and termed him as a professional man.
He said that Sodhi was not only known for his professionalism but also his participation in social activities besides getting always ready to help the needy. Secretary General, Press Club of Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, also spoke on the occasion and advised the working journalists to be careful and alert while performing their professional duties.
He said that the budding journalists especially those who are not equipped with safety gadgets, must remain cautious while covering the incidents of encounters and law and order related problems. Later the journalists observed two minutes silence.
